Ernest Bryant Barteau was born in Brookhaven, New York, on May 29, 1879. Around 1897, at the age of 18, he moved to the west coast. Barteau traveled between Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., Whitehorse, Y.T. and Tanana, Alaska. He was superintendent of the River Division of the White Pass & Yukon Railroad. Upon his retirement from the railroad in 1951, he moved to White, Rock, B.C., where he resided for 15 years until his death on August 16, 1966 at age 87. From the description of E.B. B...
